This service offers combines developmental feedback and line editing to help you improve your opening, hook, premise, characterization, and world-building.
A First 5k Pass is great for authors who want to ensure their book will grab readers from the start, or writers who want to get some idea of where to take the next draft without spending too much all at once.
$250 Flat Rate
All edits are made using The Chicago Manual of Style as a baseline, and adapted based on the author’s preferences.
Payment plans are available upon request.
Deliverables:
An annotated copy of your manuscript’s first 5000 words that includes:
line edits made with Track Changes to help you smooth out the writing and ensure clarity for your readers
margin comments with feedback on plot, character, pacing, dialogue, world-building, and more—along with any necessary explanations for the above line edits
A brief (1-5 page) editorial letter detailing any broad feedback and recommendations
Two passes of the manuscript
I’ll send the first pass to you so you can go over it and leave comments with any questions or concerns, which I will then address in the second pass
